Finding Squares
Set up:
Use graph paper or create an empty 5 by 5 grid using five horizontal and vertical lines.
Play:
Players take turns putting their tokens on points where the lines cross in the grid.
Goal:
The first player with four tokens on the corners of a square with horizontal and vertical lines of any size wins.

Discussion and Tips
Discuss student strategies. Does any student think they have a strategy that will win every time?
Does the player who moves first have a big advantage?
Variations
Use grids larger than 5 by 5.
After students get practiced at the original game, you can use the harder version which allows squares with diagonal sides.
