Insides and Outsides

A simple closed curve is a single continuous line that does not bump into itself and has no breaks. An important characteristic of these curves is that they have an inside and an outside.

THE CHALLENGE

For points A and B, determine which is on the inside of the curve and which is outside.

EXPLORATION

Rather than tracing around this entire closed curve, can you find a simple way to test whether a point is on the inside or outside of the curve?
